Crop markets sorting through disease pressure

“The ProFarmer Crop Tour projected large yields and a record U.S. corn harvest for 2025 but mentioned disease in the Midwest a number of times that could impact yields at harvest, and this has worried funds,” Total Farm Marketing said. The average yield was pegged at 182.7 bu./acre, which compares to the USDA’s 188.8 bu./acre.”

“Some weakness today could be coming from comments made by China over the weekend,” Total Farm Marketing said. “The country said that ‘rampant’ U.S. protectionism threatens agricultural ties as a result of the tariffs. Trade is likely concerned that China does not agree to a trade deal.”

“The week ahead looks routine for USDA reports,” Nick Paumen, with CHS Hedging, said. “Later this morning we will look at inspections to see if corn can hold above 1 MMT.”
