This year marks an exciting milestone for the Lindsay Academy school and community as we proudly launch our very own FFA chapter. As a lifelong member of the Lindsay community, it is truly special to give back to my hometown by helping students explore the incredible opportunities that agricultural education and FFA have to offer.
While we are just beginning our first official school year as an FFA chapter, our members have already hit the ground running. Last spring, we hosted our very first annual FFA Labor Auction. The event was a huge success, raising essential funds to kickstart our chapter. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to cover some of the cost for students for events such as the National FFA Convention, contests, our end-of-year banquet, trainings and more.
In May, our officer team attended the COLT (Chapter Officer Leadership Training) Conference in Aurora, Nebraska. This event provided our officers with valuable training on their specific roles, leadership skills and team-building strategies. They returned energized and ready to serve as leaders for our chapter this year.
In June, our chapter proudly participated in Lindsay’s town celebration, “Pivot Days.” Members worked together to design and build our first-ever chapter float. It was a great opportunity to showcase our chapter to the community, wave to supporters and, of course, celebrate this exciting new beginning.
Lindsay Academy FFA members proudly represented their new chapter during the town’s “Pivot Days” celebration. Looking ahead, we have a full calendar of activities planned for the 2025–2026 school year. Our members will compete in Career Development Events (CDEs) and Leadership Development Events (LDEs), giving them the chance to apply their skills in real-world situations from livestock judging to public speaking. We will also attend Husker Harvest Days, the Nebraska State FFA Convention, and the National FFA Convention. In addition, we are excited to host community projects such as “Feed the Farmer,” which will allow us to give back to local agricultural producers during harvest season.
FFA is more than just an extracurricular activity; it's a place where students can grow as leaders, develop career skills, and build lasting friendships. Our goal at Lindsay Academy is to provide members with hands-on learning experiences that connect their agricultural roots to future career opportunities.
We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our community and parents. Without you, none of this would be possible. We cannot wait to see what this first year brings and look forward to building a strong, lasting tradition of FFA at Lindsay Academy.
